This January, Good Shepherd Lutheran Collage Kindergarten in Noosa asked me to begin making lunch, morning tea and afternoon tea for their students.
The kindergarten recognised that we need to be in control of the food we were serving the children. I thought it should be seasonal and also wanted to eliminate all processed food from their meals.
And just like at home, we decided not to give the kids a lot of choice as we didn’t want them to be fussy. It’s all about getting them into good habits early – not just eating healthy food but valuing the experience of eating together.
If kids learn that in primary school, they will have that awareness for life – and what could be more important?
